Drawstring ties (make 2):
Holding 2 strands together, chain 120, fasten off. Fold bag flat.
Beginning at right side of eyelet row, weave one end of chain under
and over ea dc around top of bag. Weave second chain in same manner,
starting at left side of bag. Hold ends of each separate chain
together and tie in overhand knot. Weave yarn ends into knot to hide
and secure them. When you pull on drawstring ties, top of bag
should draw closed.
Optional trim:
Cut lengths of novelty scarf yarn and attach to bag as desired by
inserting hook into a space between sts. Fold strand in half around
hook, pull loop through, then pull loose ends through loop on hook
and tighten.
OR -
Use same yarn to make fringed strands. Attach as desired around top
of bag, then string pony beads on ends of strands. A fabric lining
can be sewn and inserted into bag, tacking top to inside of bag
below eyelet row.
Be creative and have fun with your new tote!
