LITTLE BLACK BAG

Materials:

1 ball Tahki Chelsea Silk (black/raspberry tweed) (or yarn of choice)

Size G & I hooks

Tapestry needle

CGOA pin (or button)

Finished size: approx 4-1/2" x 4-1/2" (closed)

            Strap approx. 23" long from bag to center of chain strap

Gauge: 6 sc = 2"

7 rows = 2"

With size I hook and Tahki Chelsea Silk (or yarn of choice), ch 15.

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and ea ch across (14 sc). Ch 1, turn.

Row 2: Sc in ea sc across (14 sc). Ch 1, turn.

Rep Row 2 until 28 rows have been worked.

Begin flap:

Row 29 (dec row): Sc first 2 sc tog, sc across to last 2 sc, sc last 2 sc tog (12 sc). Ch 1, turn.

Rows 30-34: Rep Row 29 (2 sc)

Row 35: Sc 2 sc tog (1 sc)

Button loop: Ch 7, sl st back into sc of Row 35, fasten off.

Bag assembly: Fold Row 1 of bag up to meet Row 29. With tapestry needle and length of yarn, whipstitch sides of bag tog. Weave in ends.

Chain strap: (Note: If yarn is thick enough, work with single strand. If using thinner yarn, you may need to work with yarn doubled.)

With smaller hook, attach yarn to one side of bag where flap folds over front of bag. Ch 200, attach to other side of bag opposite beg of chain strap. Fasten off and secure ends.

Finishing: Fold flap over front of bag to find placement of pin (or button). Attach CGOA pin (or button) and fasten button loop over it.
