NAMETAG NECKLACE

©2008 Designs by KN

Designed by Kathy North

At my place of business, we need to carry a card key entry pass and an office door key, in addition to wearing a pin-on nametag. I devised a “necklace” bag combining all three functions into one!

Size: adjustable to fit size of access card, but approx. 2-1/2” wide x 4” long

50 yds. Cascade “Fixation” (cotton/elastic) yarn – or similar sport-wt. cotton-blend yarn

Size F hook

Gauge: not critical for this project

Pattern notes: Bag portion of necklace is worked in rounds, with slip stitch join at end of each round and chain-up to begin new round.

Necklace

Rnd 1: Ch 25, join into ring, ch 1, sc in ea ch around, join with sl st (24 sc)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same sc, sc in ea sc around, join with sl st (24 sc)

Repeat last round until length of bag is same length as key access card.

Close bottom of bag by holding bag sides together (so bag lies flat). Sc across through both thicknesses (12 sc)

Next row: Work reverse sc in first 5 sc, ch 20 (for key-holding loop), sc in same sc, continue in reverse sc across row. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Finishing: Work 1 round reverse sc around top opening of bag. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Neck strap: With double strand of yarn, attach to one side of bag at top opening, ch 160, attach to other side of bag, fasten off, secure and weave in all ends.

Insert access key card in bag, attach hanging loop to top of keys, attach pin-on nametag at top of bag.
