or size needed to achieve gauge
Tapestry needle
4 buttons (for wrist cuffs)
Gauge: 12 sts & 12
rows = 4” in single crochet on size H/8 (5 mm) hook
Pattern notes:
Pieces are worked in single
crochet ripple pattern (in back loops only) in strips to desired
lengths.
Headband is joined with a
slip stitch seam.
Wrist cuffs are fastened with
buttons/button loops.

back loop only (BLO), beginning (beg), chain (ch), double crochet

Headband, Wrist Cuffs or

Row 1: Ch 18, sc in 2nd ch from hk, sc in next 2 ch, sk next 2
ch, sc in next 3 ch, 3 sc in next ch, sc in next 3 ch, sk 2 ch, sc
in next 3 ch, turn (15 sc)
Note: work Row 2 and all
subsequent rows in back loop only (BLO)
Row 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in BLO of
first sc, sc in BLO of next sc, sk 2 sc, sc in BLO of next 3 sc, 3
sc in BLO of next sc, sc in BLO of next 3 sc, sk 2 sc, sc in BLO of
next sc, 2 sc in BLO of last sc, turn (15 sc)
For headband:
Rep Row 2 until piece
measures approx. 3” less than desired total length (approx. 20” -
piece will stretch to fit up to 23” head circumference.)
Fold piece with right sides
together so that foundation row meets last row worked. Working
through both thicknesses to form seam, ch 1, sl st in ea st across.
Fasten off and weave in all tails. Turn piece right side out to wear
as headband.
For wrist cuff:
Rep Row 2 until piece
measures approx. 2” less than desired total length
(approx. 4.5” – piece will
stretch to fit up to 6.5” wrist circumference.) At end of last row,
fasten off.
Turn piece upside down to
work along opposite side of foundation chain and attach yarn to
first stitch.
Button loop row:
Ch 1, sc in ea st to center
of first “point”, ch 3 (for button loop), sl st in same point, sc in
ea st to center of second “point”, ch 3 (for button loop), sl st in
same point, sc to end of row. Fasten off and weave in tails.
Sew 2 buttons to other end of
piece opposite button loops.
Fasten buttons through
buttonhole loops to wear as wrist cuff.
Make second cuff to match.
For scarf:
Rep Row 2 until piece
measures approximately 55”, or to desired length. Fasten off and
weave in tails.
