SIMPLE CROCHETED SCARF FOR TEENS & ADULTS

Size: Approx. 5" x 58" (excluding fringe)

Materials: 200 yds. DK or worsted weight wool or wool-blend yarn, or yam of choice Size H hook

Yam needle for weaving in ends

Chain 17.

Row 1: Single crochet in second chain from hook and in each chain across (16 sc)

Row 2 : Chain 1, turn, work 1 single crochet in first single crochet and in each single crochet across (16 sc)

Rows 3 & 4 : Repeat Row 2 (16 sc)

Row 5: Chain 3, double crochet in second single crochet and in each single crochet across (16 dc)

Row 6 : Chain 1, single crochet in first double crochet and in each double crochet across, being sure to work last sc in top of beg ch-3 from previous row (16 sc)

Row 7 : Chain 1, single crochet in first single crochet and in each single crochet across (16 sc)

Row 8 : Repeat Row 7 (16 sc)

Repeat Rows 5-8 until scarf is 58"'ong or desired length, ending with Row 8. Fasten off and weave in ends.

For fringe, cut 32 strands of yarn 14"long. Insert hook under two loops of each single crochet stitch at ends of scarf, fold strand in half over hook, pull loop through, then pull ends of strand through loop on hook and tighten knot. Trim to desired length. Check care instructions on yam ball band and if appropriate for the yam, block scarf by laying it out on thick towels, cover with damp towel and leave to dry in a place with good air circulation.
