Size: Approx. 5" x 58" (excluding fringe) Materials: 200 yds. worsted weight yarn Size H hook, or size to achieve gauge Tapestry needle Gauge: 14 double crochet = 4” with worsted wt. yarn on size H hook Terms/Abbreviations: beginning (beg), chain (ch), double crochet (dc), hook (hk), repeat (rep), single crochet (sc) Scarf Foundation row: Ch 17, sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across, turn (16 sc) Row 1: Ch 1, sc in first sc and in each sc across, turn (16 sc) Rows 2-3: Repeat Row 1 (16 sc) Row 4: Ch 3, dc in second sc and in each sc across, turn (16 dc) Row 5: Ch 1, sc in each dc across and in top of beg ch-3, turn (16 sc) Row 6: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn (16 sc) Row 7: Ch 1, sc in ea sc across, turn (16 sc) Repeat Rows 4-7 (i.e., 1 row of double crochet followed by 3 rows of single crochet) until scarf is 58" long or desired length, ending with Row 7. Fasten off and weave in ends. Finishing: For fringe, cut 32 strands of yarn 14" long. Insert hook under two loops of each single crochet stitch at ends of scarf, fold strand in half over hook, pull loop through, then pull ends of strand through loop and tighten. Trim to desired length. Block scarf if necessary by placing between damp towels and leave to dry.
