Materials :50 yds. size 3 cotton thread, “Lustersheen”, or other thread/yarn of similar weight Size E hook Tapestry needle 14" each of 2 colors 1/8" or 1/4" satin ribbon 4 pony beads Optional for sachet bag: 8" square of tulle or net fabric Potpourri or perfume-scented cotton balls Gauge : Not critical for this project. One 3-dc group = approx. 1/2"Stitches/Terms : beginning (beg), chain (ch), decrease (dec), double crochet(dc), group (grp), hook (hk), loop (lp), repeat (rep), single crochet (sc), slip stitch (sl st), space (sp), stitch (st) Pattern notes: Bag is worked in rounds from base to top without turning at endof each round. Chain up to begin each new round as instructed.
Bag Rnd 1: Ch 12, 3 sc in second ch from hook, sc in next 9 ch, 3 sc in last ch, working on opposite side of beginning ch, sc in next 9 ch, join with sl st to first sc, do not turn (24 sc) Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same sc, sc in ea sc around, join with sl st, do not turn (24 sc) Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in same sc, *ch 3, skip 1 sc, sc in next sc, rep from * around, ending last rep with ch 3, join with sl st, do not turn (12 ch-3 loops) Rnd 4: Sl st into sp of first lp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, in next sp work (ch1-dc-ch1), *3 dc in next sp, in next sp work (ch1-dc-ch1), rep from * around, join with sl st to top of beg ch-3, do not turn (six 3-dc grps, six ch1-dc-ch1 grps) Rnd 5: Sl st to center dc of first 3-dc group, ch 4 (counts as dc and ch-1), work 3 dc in dc of next ch1-dc-ch1 grp, *ch 1, dc in center dc of next 3-dc group, ch 1, work 3 dc in dc of next ch1-dc-ch1 grp, rep from * around, ending last rep with ch 1, join with sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch-4, do not turn (six 3-dc grps, six ch1-dc-ch1 grps) Rnd 6: Ch 3, 2 dc in same dc at base of beg ch-3, in center dc of next 3-dc grp work (ch1-dc-ch1), *3 dc in dc of next ch1-dc-ch1 grp, in center dc of next 3-dc grp work (ch1-dc-ch1), rep from * around, join with sl st to top of beg ch-3, do not turn (six 3-dc grps, six ch1-dc-ch1 grps) Rnd 7: Rep Rnd 5. Rnd 8: Ch 1, sc in same st, ch 5, sc in center dc of next 3-dc group, *ch 5, sc in dc of next ch1-dc-ch1 grp, ch 5, sc in center dc of next 3-dc group, rep from * around to last 3-dc grp, sc in center dc of last 3-dc grp, ch 3, dc into beg sc (12 ch-5 lps) Rnd 9: Ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, sc in next sc, *5 dc in next sp, sc in next sc, rep from * around to last sc, sc in last sc, 2 dc in same sp as beg ch-3, join with sl st to top of beg ch-3. Fasten off. Finishing: Cut two 14” lengths of ribbon and weave through spaces on Rnd 8. If beads are desired, slip one pony bead onto end of each ribbon tail and tie in knot several times to secure bead, leaving 1” tail. Trim end of ribbon diagonally to form point. Insert bar of soap into bag and tie ribbons in bow as shown in photo. Sachet Bag Cut an 8" square of tulle or net fabric to enclose dried potpourri or perfumescented cotton balls. Gather top of net bag and tie securely with cotton thread, trimming excess fabric if necessary. Place potpourri bag inside crocheted bag.
