Size D/3 (3.25 mm.) crochet hook, or size needed to achieve gauge

Tapestry needle

24 inches ½” ribbon for drawstring

Gauge: 22 sts & 24 rows = 4” in single crochet rib on size D/3 (3.25 mm) hook

Pattern notes:

Work in back loop only of each single crochet throughout to create the ribbed look of this project.

Colors are changed every 2 rows to form rainbow stripes. Cut and rejoin colors as needed.

Eyelets for drawstring are created on Row 5.

It’s a good idea to count stitches every row to maintain stitch count of 50 sc.

Special stitches:

BLO (back look only) – work single crochet in back loop of each stitch.

Abbreviations: beginning (beg), chain (ch), each (ea), fasten off (FO), hook (hk), repeat (rep), single crochet (sc), skip (sk)

Finishing:

Fold bag in half with right sides together and eyelets aligned at one end. Seam side of bag with slip st through both thicknesses. Fasten off and cut thread. Rejoin thread at other side of bag and repeat slip st seam.

Weave in all tails. Turn bag right side out.

Drawstring:

Beginning and ending at one side seam, weave ribbon through eyelets (Note: after weaving through eyelets, bring ribbon ends through from inside of bag to outside at side seam about Ό” away on either side of seam.) Tie loosely to pull bag closed, then tie ends of ribbon together in a knot about 1” from ends. Trim ends with diagonal cut.
