Materials:

Worsted weight 4-medium  cotton yarn:

90 yds. main color (MC)

          20 yds. contrast color (CC)

Samples shown in Lily “Sugar’n Cream” (100% cotton, 120 yds (110 m)/70 gm (2.47 oz) ball) and Spinrite “Peaches & Crème” (100% cotton, 120 yds (110 m)/ 70 gm (2.47 oz) ball)

Crochet hook size H/8 (5 mm), or size needed to achieve gauge

Tapestry needle

Gauge: 12 sts & 6 rows = 4” in double crochet on size H/8 (5 mm) hook

Pattern notes:

Cloth is worked from center out in six wedge sections, then bordered with a subtle pointed edging.

Work proceeds in joined rounds. Do not turn at end of each round but continue in same direction throughout.

Rnd 2 (inc rnd): Ch 3, dc in same st at base of beg ch-3, 2 dc in next dc, ch 2, *2 dc in ea of next 2 dc, ch 2, rep from * around, join with sl st (24 dc, 6 sps)

Rnd 3 (inc rnd): Ch 3, dc in same st at base of beg ch-3, dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 1, *2 dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 1, rep from * around, join with sl st (36 dc, 6 sps)

Rnd 4 (inc rnd): Ch 3, dc in same st at base of beg ch-3, dc in next 2 dc, ch 1, dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 1, *2 dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc, ch 1, dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 1, rep from * around, join with sl st (48 dc, 12 sps)

Rnd 5 (inc rnd): Ch 3, dc in same st at base of beg ch-3, dc in next dc, ch 1, sk next dc, dc in next dc, dc in next sp, dc in next dc, ch 1, sk next dc, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 1, *2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc, ch 1, sk next dc, dc in next dc, dc in next sp, dc in next dc, ch 1, sk next dc, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 1, rep from * around, join with sl st and fasten off MC (54 dc, 18 sps)

Rnd 6 (edging prep rnd): Join CC in sp to right of where MC was fastened off. Ch 1, sc in same sp, sc in next 3 dc, sc in next sp, sc in next 3 dc, sc in next sp, sc in next 3 dc, 3 sc in next sp, *sc in next 3 dc, sc in next sp, sc in next 3 dc, sc in next sp, sc in next 3 dc, 3 sc in next sp, rep from * around, ending last rep with 2 sc in last sp, join with sl st (84 sc)

Rnd 7 (edging rnd): *Ch 3, dc in same sc, sk next 2 sc, sc in next sc, rep from * around, join with sl st. Fasten off CC.

 

Finishing: Weave in all tails.
