 CHUNK-A-BLOCK SCARF (knit)

Skill level:  Easy

Size: Approx. 5-1/2" wide x 62" long

Materials:

128 yds. super-bulky wool or wool/acrylic blend (sample shown in Plymouth Encore “Mega”)

Size 15 needles – or size to achieve gauge

Tapestry needle

Gauge: 9 sts = 4", 10 rows = 2" in garter stitch on size 15 needles

Stitches/Terms:  bind off (BO), cast on (CO), knit (K), place marker (pm), purl (P), repeat (rep), stitch (st)

Garter stitch:  Knit every row.

 

Scarf

Cast on 12 stitches.

Knit 10 rows (5 ridges of garter stitch).

Begin block pattern (Note: Keep 3 stitches each side of scarf in garter stitch.  Place markers inside these stitches to help keep track of pattern.)

Row 1: K3, place marker, P3, K3, place marker, K3.

Rows 2-4: K3, slip marker, P3, K3, slip marker, K3.

Row 5: K3, slip marker, K3, P3, slip marker, K3.

Rows 6-8: K3, slip marker, K3, P3, slip marker, K3.

Repeat Rows 1-8 until there are 46 four-row block pattern sections (184 block pattern rows).

K 10 rows (5 ridges of garter stitch).

Bind off and weave in ends.
