yds. worsted weight yarn (sample shown in Plymouth “Encore”)
Note: If you
want a longer garment, purchase additional yarn.
Size
10 (6 mm)circular needle, 29" length
Tapestry needle
Gauge:
15 sts = 4" & 10 rounds = 2" in stockinette st knit circularly on
size 10 (6 mm) needles
Pattern notes:
Capelet is worked from the top down in a simple rib pattern with
yarnover increases that separate each section as the stitches
increase in number.
Abbreviations: beginning (beg), bind off (BO), cast on (CO),
decrease (dec), increase (inc), remaining (rem), repeat (rep), round
(rnd), stitch (st), yarn over (yo)
Capelet
With
size 10 circular needle, cast on 60 sts loosely, join into circle,
being careful not to twist stitches on needle.
Rnd 1:
Work in K2, P2 rib around (60 sts), place marker at beginning of
round.
Rnd 2:
Work in K2, P2 rib around (60 sts)
Repeat
last round for 2 inches.

rnd (increase round): *K1, yo, K1, p2, rep from * around (75 sts)
Next
rnd (no increases): *K3, p2, rep from * around (75 sts) - (15 ribs
set up)
Rep
last round for 3 inches.
Next
rnd (increase round): *(K1, yo) 2 times, K1, p2, rep from * around
(105 sts)
Next
rnd (no increases): *K5, p2, rep from * around (105 sts)
Rep
last round for 4 inches.
Next
rnd (increase round): *(K1, yo) 4 times, K1, p2, rep from * around
(165 sts)

rnd (no increases): *K9, p2, rep from * around (165 sts)
Rep
last round for 5 inches.

rnd (increase round): *(K1, yo) 8 times, K1, p2, rep from * around
(285 sts)

Note:
If you want a longer garment, continue in rib pattern on 285 sts
until desired length.
Next
round: *K8, K in front & back of next st (1 st increased), K8, p2,
rep from * around (300 sts)
Next
rounds: Work K2, P2 ribbing for 3 inches. Bind off in rib pattern
very loosely.
Fasten
off and weave in ends.
Finishing: Following care instructions on label for your chosen
yarn, lightly block capelet between damp towels and leave to dry.
