printer-friendly version

Skill level:  Intermediate

Size:  Approx. 5" w. x 62" l.

Materials:

150 yds. sport wt. multicolor twist viscose/poly blend novelty yarn

150 yds. thin carry-along fine eyelash

(sample shown in 1 strand S. Charles Collezione "Venus" & 1 strand "Flutter")

Size 13 (9 mm) needles, or size needed to achieve gauge

Tapestry needle

Gauge:  20 sts = 5" in feather & fan pattern on size 13 (9 mm) needles

Stitches/Terms:  bind off (BO), cast on (CO), knit (K), knit 2 together (K2tog), purl (P), repeat (rep), stitch (st), yarn over (yo)

Pattern notes: Use row counter to help keep track of rows.  Be sure to pick up both strands of yarn as you work each stitch. Work somewhat loosely to make it easier to work knit 2 together on Row 3.

Scarf

Holding 1 strand of each yarn together as one, cast on 20 sts.

Knit 2 rows.

Begin pattern:

Row 1: Knit across (20 sts)

Row 2: Purl across.

Row 3: K1, (K2tog) 3 times, (yo, K1) 6 times, (K2tog) 3 times, K1.

Row 4: Knit across.

Repeat Rows 1-4 until scarf measures desired length, or until yarn is almost gone (reserving enough for last 2 rows and bind off row.)

Final 2 rows: Knit across. Bind off loosely and weave in tails.
