SCARF
With one strand
tape yarn held together with one strand eyelash yarn and
size 13 needles, cast on 15 sts. Work in garter stitch
(knit every row) until scarf measures approx. 52" when
stretched lengthwise (reserving about 10 yds. tape yarn for
little bag). Bind off loosely and weave in ends.
LITTLE BAG
With one strand
eyelash yarn and size 8 needles, cast on 16 sts. Work in
garter stitch (knit every row) for 56 rows, or until piece
measures 8". Cut eyelash, leaving 6" tail for weaving in.
Join tape yarn and
work flap as follows:
K2tog, knit across
to last 2 sts, K2tog.
Continue to
decrease 1 st at beg and end of ea row until 3 sts remain.
K3 tog, place
remaining loop on crochet hook.
Button loop:
With crochet hook, ch 7, sl st back into base of chain,
fasten off and weave in ends.
Edging:
Due to the furriness of the eyelash yarn, it will be easier
to sew sides of bag together if you first work 1 row single
crochet along both sides and bottom of piece just worked.
Reattach tape yarn at side of piece below where flap begins
and work one row single crochet loosely and evenly along
first side, along cast on row, and along other side of piece
until you reach beginning of flap on second side. Cut tape
yarn, fasten off and weave in ends.
Assembly:
Fold cast-on row of bag up to 1" below where flap decreases
begin. With tapestry needle and length of tape yarn,
whipstitch sides of bag tog, or alternatively, use crochet
hook to slip stitch sides together. Weave in ends.
Chain strap:
With crochet hook and tape yarn, attach yarn to one side of
bag where flap folds over front. Ch 200, attach to other
side of bag opposite beg of chain strap. Fasten off and
secure ends.
Finishing:
Fold flap over front of bag to find placement of button. Sew
on button and fasten button loop over it.
