Special techniques:
NOTE: Consult a knitting technique book or other reference for
provisional cast-on or crochet cast-on instructions
Three-needle bind-off: Place stitches from each end of scarf on two
separate needles, holding them together as you work the bind-off
row. With a third needle, pick up one stitch from front needle
together with one stitch from back needle and bind-off together.
Repeat across row until all stitches are bound off.
Scarf
Using a provisional or crochet cast-on (so stitches on first row can
be released later and bound-off together with final row), cast on
30 sts.
Work in garter stitch (knit every row) until scarf measures approx.
38". Leave last row of stitches on needle. Place beginning row of
stitches on second needle by removing provisional or crochet
cast-on. Before seaming, give one end of scarf a half-twist, then
join cast-on row to final row (see drawing) by using the 3-needle
bind off method (above). Fasten off and weave in ends.
