Mitts
With size 8 dpn, cast on
32 sts, join and work in rounds.
Work in K2, P2 rib for
5-1/2".
Begin rows (to form
thumb opening): NOTE: on these rows begin and end each row with K1
on right side (P1 on wrong side) so that 1 knit stitch will sit on
each side of thumb opening when K2, P2 rib is continued in the
round.
Turn and work back and
forth in rows for the next 1-1/2".
When piece measures
1-1/2" from beginning of thumb opening, join and begin working in
rounds again. Continue in K2, P2 rib for another 2", or until piece
measures 9" from beginning. Bind off in K2, P2 rib. If desired, with
size H hook, work 2 rounds single crochet (about 25 sc) in ends of
rib rows on "finger" end of mitt, in order to pull ribs in for more
snug fit.
