Circular needle (16 in. length) size 6 (4.25 mm)(for hat body)
Circular needle (20 or 24 in. length) size 6 (4.25 mm)(for ruffle
trim)
A set of 4 (or 5) size 6 (4.25 mm) double-pointed needles (dpns)

Gauge:
22 sts & 30 rows = 4” in stockinette stitch using size 6 (4.25 mm)
needles
Pattern notes:
Seamless hat is worked in the round from lower rib upward to crown
decreases. Eyelet ruffle trim is picked up from opposite side of
cast-on edge and worked downward.

Hat
With shorter circular needle, cast on 70 (84, 98) sts loosely. Join
for knitting in the round, being careful that stitches are not
twisted. Place marker to note beginning of rounds.
Rnds 1-6: *K1, p1, rep from * around.
Rnds 7-9: K.
Begin pattern:
Rnd 10: *K7, (p1, k1)3 times, p1, rep from * around.
Rnds 11-13: K.
Rnd 14: *(P1, k1)3 times, p1, k7, rep from * around.
Rnds 15-17: K.
Rnd 18: Rep Rnd 10.
Rnds 19-21: K.
Rnd 22: Rep Rnd 14.
Rnds 23-25: K.
Rnd 26: Rep Rnd 10.
Knit even until hat measures 4" (4.75", 5.5") from cast-on edge.
Begin 6-point crown decreases:

For Small size only (setup rnd - 2 sts inc'd): *K34, kf&b in next st,
rep from * around (72)
For Medium size only (setup rnd): K (84)
For Large size only (setup rnd - 2 sts dec'd): *K47, k2tog, rep from
* around (96)
For all sizes, continue with decreases as follows:
Rnd 1: K - 72 (84, 96)
Rnd 2 (dec rnd): *K10 (12, 14), k2tog, rep from * around – 66 (78,
90)
Rnd 3: K.
Rnd 4 (dec rnd): *K9 (11, 13), k2tog, rep from * around - 60 (72,
84)
Rnd 5: K.
Rnd 6 (dec rnd): *K8 (10, 12), k2tog, rep from * around - 54 (66,

Rnd 18 (dec rnd): *K2 (4), k2tog, rep from * around - 18 (30)
For Medium size only: Cut yarn, leaving 8" tail. Gather rem sts and
cinch to close. Weave in tail.
For Large size only:
Rnd 19 (dec rnd): *K3, k2tog, rep from * around (24)
Rnd 20 (dec rnd): *K2, k2tog, rep from * around (18)
Cut yarn, leaving 8" tail. Gather rem sts and cinch to close. Weave
in tail.
Eyelet ruffle:
Turn hat upside down. Working on opposite side of cast-on edge, with
shorter circular needle pick up 70 (84, 98) sts evenly around. Place
marker to note beginning of rounds.
Note: As stitches increase and become crowded on needle, change to
longer circular needle.
Rnd 1: K.
Rnd 2 (inc rnd): *K2, yo, rep from * around - 105 (126, 147)
Rnd 3: K.
Rnd 4 (inc rnd): *K2, yo, k1, yo, rep from * around - 175 (210, 245)
Rnd 5: K.
Rnd 6 (inc rnd): *K2, yo, k3, yo, rep from * around – 245 (294, 343)
Rnd 7: K.
Bind off, cut yarn and weave in tails.
