TWISTY LACE BASKET TRIM

Skill level: Easy

Size: Approx. 19” circumference by 2” high (unstretched) – will stretch to fit basket circumference of 26”

Materials:

75 yds. medium weight yarn

Sample shown in Lion Brand Yarns “Wool-ease” in White Frost (70% acrylic, 20% wool, 10% polyamide, 162 yds per 2.5 oz (70 gm ball)

Circular knitting needle (16” length) size 8 (5 mm), or size needed to achieve gauge

Stitch marker

Tapestry needle

Gauge: 18 sts & 20 rows = 4” in stockinette stitch on size 8 (5 mm) needle

Terms/Abbreviations: beginning (beg), bind off (BO), cast on (CO), knit (k), knit two together (k2tog), needle (ndl), place marker (pm), purl (p), repeat (rep), stitch (st), twist 2 right (T2R), yarn over (yo)

Pattern notes:

Trim is worked in the round from lower edge to top.

Special stitches:

Twist two right (T2R): Knit 2 together but do not remove stitches from left needle, knit into the first of those 2 stitches again, then move both stitches from left to right needle.

Trim

CO 80. Join for circular knitting, being careful that stitches are not twisted on needle. Place marker to note beginning of round.

Knit 1 rnd.

Begin lace pattern:

Rnd 1 (twist stitch rnd): *T2R (see Special Stitches), rep from * around.

Rnd 2: K.

Rnd 3 (yo rnd): *Yo, k2tog, rep from * around.

Rnd 4: K.

Rep Rnds 1-4 until piece measures 2” from beg, ending with Rnd 2.

Bind off loosely. Weave in all tails.

Place trim around top of basket as shown.
