in main color (MC) (sample shown in Lion Brand “Lion Cotton”)
5 yds.
worsted wt. cotton in contrast color (CC) for optional crochet
edging
Pair of
size 8 (5 mm) knitting needles, or size needed to achieve gauge
Crochet
hook size G/6 (4.25 mm)
Tapestry
needle
Gauge: 16
sts & 26 rows = 4” in seeded rib pattern on size 8 (5 mm) needles
Pattern
notes:
Case is
knit in one flat piece which is folded and seamed along side and
lower edge.
Terms/Abbreviations: beginning (beg), bind off (BO), cast on (CO),
knit (k), purl (p), repeat (rep), slip stitch (sl st), stitch (st)
Special
stitches:
Reverse
single crochet: Work in single crochet, but from left to right
rather than from right to left.

Case
With
knitting needles and MC, CO 33.
Row 1
(RS): P1, *k3, p1, rep from * across.
Row 2
(WS): K2, p1, *k3, p1, rep from * to last 2 sts, k2.
Rep Rows 1
& 2 until piece measures 8” from beg. Bind off.
Finishing:
Fold piece
in half vertically with right sides together. Seam along side and
lower edge with overcast stitch. Turn piece inside out. Fold top of
case down about one inch to form cuff.
Crochet
edging (optional):
With
crochet hook, attach CC to unfinished edge of cuff at side seam.
Rnd
1: Ch 1, work reverse sc evenly around cuff, join with sl st to beg
ch-1. Fasten off and weave in tails.
If
desired, a fabric lining can be inserted inside case.
