notes:
A row counter is useful
for keeping track of rows in pattern.
Three stitches at each
edge of shawl are maintained in garter stitch throughout, for
borders. If desired, slip the first stitch of every row purlwise for
a smoother edge finish.
Special stitches:
SSK (slip slip knit):
Slip 2 sts from left needle to right needle, one at a time, without
knitting them, then insert left needle from left to right through
those 2 sts and knit them together from this position.
Shell: work 5 double
crochet in same stitch.
Shawl
CO 30 sts LOOSELY.
Knit 2 rows.
Begin pattern:
Note: if using stitch
markers to denote border stitches, place one after the first 3 sts
and another before the last 3 sts. Slip markers every row.
Row 1 (RS): K3, *K1, yo,
ssk, rep from * across to last 3 sts, k3.
Row 2 (WS): K3, purl
across to last 3 sts, k3.
Row 3: K3, *K2, yo, ssk,
