12” FOOTBALL TEAM
COLORS SQUARE
printer-friendly version
Skill level:
Easy
Materials:
Worsted weight yarn – 100 yds. each of 3 colors (Colors A, B, C)
Sample shown in Color A: orange, Color
B: white, Color C: navy blue.
NOTE: For sample, I used yarn from
stash: Red Heart Soft in navy and white, and Red Heart Super Saver
in orange. I would recommend using one type of yarn for all three
colors so you don't get size variations between rows (e.g., RHSS is
thicker than RH Soft.)
Size H/8 (5 mm) crochet hook, or size
needed for gauge
Tapestry needle
Gauge:
14 sts & 8 rows = 4” in half double crochet on size H/8 (5 mm) hook
NOTE: Finished square should measure
about 12". If you find your square is getting too big by Round 12,
you can take out a couple rounds (between Rnds 13-16) before you
work the long sc round (Rnd 17). You can also skip the long sc round
and work one final round of plain sc.
Pattern notes:
Square is worked from center out in
joined rounds. Do not turn at end of each round but continue in same
direction throughout entire square.
Cut and join colors as directed.
Terms/Abbreviations:
back loop only (BLO), beginning (beg), chain (ch), double crochet
(dc), each (ea), half double crochet (hdc), long single crochet
(long sc), round (rnd), single crochet (sc), remaining (rem), repeat
(rep), slip (sl), slip stitch (sl st), stitch (st)
