Crocheted Sock Trim with Beads copyright 2002 This beaded Sock Trim edging pattern was designed by piece-by-piece. Please do not post this pattern to any other web site.
Materials needed: a purchased pair of socks, pre-washed for shrinkage size 10 bedspread weight cotton thread Number of tri-beads needed to cover the entire sock cuff. You'll need one tri-bead for every other sock rib around the cuff. size 6 steel crochet hook. Instructions: String tri-beads onto crochet thread. You will need 1 tri-bead for every other rib on each sock's edge. Row 1: With right-side of sock cuff unfolded, about 1/8" to 1/4" below the top of the unfolded sock cuff, single crochet in any rib. Chain 1 and single crochet again in the same rib. Chain 3. Skip next sock rib, then single crochet in the next sock rib. Chain 3. Skip next sock rib, then single crochet in the next sock rib. Do this all the way around the sock edge. Finish this row with a slip stitch in the first rib's chain 1. Row 2: Chain 1. Slip stitch in first Chain 3 space of Row 1. Chain 2. Pull up a bead, right to the crochet hook, and secure it with a single crochet. Chain 2 and slip stitch in same Chain 3 space. Slip stitch in next Chain 3 space of Row 1. Chain 2. Pull up a bead and secure it with a single crochet. Chain 2 and slip stitch in same Chain 3 space. Continue around edge of sock and finish this row with a slip stitch in the first Chain 1 Weave in the ends securely! This is very important, so the beads won't fall off when the socks are washed. Repeat this procedure with the second sock.
