Materials needed:

a purchased pair of socks, pre-washed for shrinkage

size 10 bedspread weight cotton thread

Number of Pony Beads needed to cover 2 sock cuffs.  You'll need two Pony Beads for every other sock rib around the cuff.

size 6 steel crochet hook.

Instructions:

Before you begin to crochet the first sock trim, string approx. 90 Pony beads onto crochet thread.  Repeat this procedure for the second sock, once you finish crocheting the first sock trim.

Row 1:   With right-side of sock cuff folded, about 1/8" to 1/4" below the top of the folded sock cuff, single crochet in any rib.  Chain 1 and single crochet again in the same rib.   Chain 2.   Single crochet in the next sock rib. Chain 2. Do this all the way around the sock edge.  Finish this row with a slip stitch in the first rib's chain 1.

Row 2:  *Slip stitch in chain 2 space.  Chain 2.  Pull up a Pony Bead and secure it with a single crochet.  Chain 2.  Half-double crochet in same space.  Pull up a Pony Bead and secure it with a single crochet.  Chain 2.  Slip stitch in same space.* *Repeat around.  End with slip stitch in first slip stitch.

Finish off by securely weaving in the ends.
