11" Baby Doll Onesie

Pattern for fitting baby doll designed by Sherrie

 

Materials Needed:

2 spools of Omega Baby Crochet Yarn Antique Pink  (or 2 spools of cotton crochet thread)

Size 0 Steel Crochet Hook

self-sticking velcro

2 ribbon bows

Needle for weaving in ends

Special Stitches:

Shell = 3 double crochet in one stitch

dc = double crochet

Directions:

Holding 2 strands of yarn/thread together, Chain 40. 

Row #1:

Double crochet in 3rd chain from hook.   DC in next 4 chains.  3 DC in next chain (this is first shell made).  DC in next 7 chains.  3 DC in next chain.  DC in next 9 chains.  3 dc in next chain.  DC in next 7 chains.  3 dc in next chain.  DC in the remaind of the chains.  Chain 3, turn.

Row #2:

DC in first 6 dc.  3 dc in next dc.   DCin next 8 dc.  3 dc in next dc.  DC in next 10 dc.  3 dc in next dc.  DC in next 8 dc.  3 dc in next dc.  DC in remainder of the dc stitches, putting 2 dc in the last stitch of the row.  Chain 3, turn.

 

Row #3:

DC in the same stitch, as your turning chain 3.  Dc in next 6 dc.  3 dc in next dc.  Mark shell center dc with a small piece of thread or small safety pin.  Dc in next 9 dc.  3 dc in next dc.   Mark shell center dc with a small piece of thread or small safety pin.  DC in next 11 dc.  3 dc in next dc.  Mark shell center dc with a small piece of thread or small safety pin.  Dc in next 9 dc.  3 dc in next dc.  Mark shell center dc with a small piece of thread or small safety pin.  Dc to end of row.  Chain 3, turn.

Row #4:

DC in each double up to the 3-dc shell.   Slip stitch in first dc of the shell.  Fold second marked shell towards first marked shell (which is where you are in your crochet work).  Single crochet the 2 marked DCs together.  This forms first armhole cuff.  Skip 3rd dc of shell. DC in each dc across to next shell.  Slip stitch in first dc of the shell.  Fold last marked shell towards 3rd marked shell (which is where you are in your crochet work).   Single crochet the 2 marked DCs together.  This forms 2nd armhole cuff.   Skip 3rd dc of shell. DC to the end of row and put 2 dc in the last dc stitch.   Chain 3, turn.

Row #5:

DC in the same stitch, as your turning chain 3.  Continue to dc in each dc across.  (Do not dc in the single crochet stitches that attached the shells above.)  Chain 3, turn.

Row #6:

DC across the row.  Put 2 dc in last stitch.  Chain 3, turn.

Row #7:

DC in the same stitch, as your turning chain 3.  Chain 3, turn.

Row #8:

Double crochet across row.  Chain 3, turn.

Row #9:

Double crochet across row.  Chain 1, turn

Row #10:

Slip stitch in the next 10 dc.  Chain 3.  Dc in the next 18 dc.  Chain 3 turn.

Row #11:

Skip next 2 dc.  Dc in next 14 dc.   Skip 2 dc.  DC in last stitch.

Row #12:

DC in next 12 dc.  Chain 3, turn.

Row #13:

Skip 2 dc.  DC in next 9 dc.  Skip next dc. DC in beginning of chain 3 below.  Chain 3, turn.

Row #14:

Skip 2 dc.  DC in next 6 dc.   Chain 3, turn.

Row #15:

DC across.  Chain 3, turn.  (There should be 7 dc in this row).

Row #16:

DC in the same stitch, as your turning chain 3.  DC in next 2 dc.  2 dc in next dc.  DC in next 2 dc.  2 dc in last stitch.  Chain 3, turn.  (10 dc)

Row #17:

DC in the same stitch, as your turning chain 3.  DC in next 3 dc.  2 dc in next dc.  DC in next 4 dc.  2 dc in last stitch.  Chain 3, turn.

Row #18:

DC in the same stitch, as your turning chain 3.  DC in next 5 dc.  2 dc in next dc.  DC in next 5 dc.  2 dc in last stitch.  Chain 3, turn.

Row #19.

DC in the same stitch, as your turning chain 3.  DC in next 7 dc.  2 dc in next dc.  DC in next 6 dc.  2 dc in last stitch.  Chain 3, turn.

Row #20:

DC across row.  Fasten off.

FINISHING ONESIE:

Weave in the ends.  Sew a decorative ribbon bow on left and right side at top of diaper portion of onesie.  Attach 2-1/2" long piece of self-sticking velcro under front flap of chest portion of onesie.  Attach 1 small piece of self-sticking velcro on each flap of diaper cover portion of onesie.  (Note:  snaps can be sewn on and used in place of velcro.)
